The '''Ardenian Civil War''' was a devastating domestic military conflict fought between 986 and 988 of the Radiant Calendar. The war was sparked by deep-seated succession rivalries, political corruption, and the suspicious death of King Sigismer.

The conflict concluded with the rise of Crown Prince [[Finlay Eafora Ardenia|Finlay]] to the position of Prince Regent, followed by a purge of some Ardenia's noble class to secure the nation's sovereignty against foreign intervention.

== Causes of the Conflict ==
The root causes of the civil war trace back to the political division created after the [[Ardenian War of Independence]]. King Sigismer's decision to marry the Albion noblewoman and Paladin; Lady Boudica Gaderia Victoria, and crown her as his "Queen" alienated the traditional nobility.

Two powerful opposing factions emerged within the royal court:
