Magic System

[edit]
The Four Pillars of Power in Rodinia

The world of Rodinia is steeped in supernatural energies. While the daily lives of most inhabitants are shaped by the ubiquitous presence of Lumite, the actual combat and utility systems of the world are far more diverse.

Scholars at the Grand Sanctuary generally categorize supernatural abilities into four distinct pillars: Arcane Arts, Alkimia, Witchcraft, and Divine Authority.

🔮 Arcane Arts

[edit]

Main Article: Arcane Arts

The Arcane Arts, or commonly referred to simply as Magic, is the mainstream standard of power in Rodinia. It acts as an umbrella term for the ability to manipulate matter and energy by utilizing the power provided by Lumite.

Because every native-born Rodinian possesses trace amounts of dormant Lumite in their bloodstream, the ability to cast magic is considered an innate physiological trait rather than a purely mystical one. The vast majority of citizens can perform rudimentary magic, such as lighting a campfire, creating small breezes, or minor mending, which requires minimal mana exertion. Individuals who possess a naturally high concentration of Lumite traces or those who undergo rigorous training to use the Arcane Arts as a primary combat tool, these advanced practitioners are officially recognized as Conjurers (e.g., Light Conjurers, Battlemages, Pyromancers). Because it relies on Lumite, Arcane Arts can be disrupted by anti-magic fields or counter-resonances. Furthermore, individuals lacking native Lumite traces—such as Asep—are completely incapable of casting Arcane Arts, though they are also uniquely immune to certain Lumite-based targeting spells.

⚗️ Alkimia (Alchemy)

[edit]

Main Article: Alkimia

Alkimia (Alchemy) is an alternative and highly intellectual method of manipulating Lumite and raw materials. Unlike Arcane Arts, which rely on the internal channeling of mana, Alkimia relies on external reactions, geometric runic arrays, and chemical synthesis.

Alkimia was pioneered and perfected by the Undying Empire. Following the end of the First Radiant War, this knowledge slowly spread westward and was eventually integrated into the curriculum of the Grand Sanctuary.

The apex of Alkimia is practiced by the elite "Jabirean Alchemists" within the Undying Empire's House of Wisdom. Their greatest, most terrifying achievement is the art of Takwin—the literal creation of artificial life. However, The Children of the Eclipse managed to bastarized the technique and creating an imperfect copy known as the "Transformative Arts". Overseer Estella Aria and her High Priests use this imperfect form of Takwin, combined with Blood Lumite, to forcefully mutate infected miners into horrific siege monsters known as Thralls.

🌿 Witchcraft

[edit]

Main Article: Witchcraft

Witchcraft serves as the catch-all classification for any supernatural ability that is entirely unrelated to Lumite manipulation. Because the Grand Sanctuary bases its worldview around Lumite, anything outside of it is often classified as Witchcraft.

This category includes Shamanism, spirit blessings, communion with ancestors, and the tribal rituals practiced by groups like the Renjiran Tribe or the Nords of Samifjord.

Surprisingly, Asep's Tenaga Dalam is classified by Rodinian scholars as Witchcraft. Because Asep possesses zero Lumite in his blood, it defies standard magical physics, so it was thrown into the Witchcraft category because nobody knows how it works.

👑 Divine Authority

[edit]

Main Article: Divine Authority

Divine Authority is the rarest and most absolute form of power in Rodinia. It is not something that can be learned from a book or achieved through mere Lumite exposure. It is a power that supersedes the physical laws of the world.

In native Rodinian history, Divine Authority is wielded only by those who have achieved a state of spiritual enlightenment known as Gnosis, or those directly favored by the Divine such as legendary Saints and Prophets. It is a power that commands reality itself. Divine Authority is also the source of power for Otherworlders who were reincarnated into Rodinia. When individuals from Earth die and their souls are pulled into this world, the metaphysical friction causes their souls to make direct contact with the "Divine Spark" during the reincarnation process. This contact grants them a fragment of Divine Authority, manifesting as a unique, rule-breaking "Cheat Skill".

  • Examples include Matthew's [Appraisal] which allows him to bypass physical limits to discern the absolute truth, age, and makeup of objects/people and Jaya's [Fool's Flame]; a fire that burns hotter than any Arcane pyromancy and operates on an entirely different dimensional logic.
